The purpose of certification is to give the market confidence about the manufacturer’s ability to obtain and maintain the compliance of the supplied product or service provided with respect to a document, whether a reference standard or technical specifications.
The certification represents an added value that is marketable in contractual relationships, favors the differentiation of what is produced or supplied compared to the competition, promotes the corporate image and the diffusion of the brand.
In particular, in recent years, also as a result of the globalization of markets, increasing numbers of customers expressly request that the products supplied or the services provided be certified by an independent third party, such as Apave Certification Italia.
The products and services involved
FGAS – Reg. CE 303/2008 e Reg. CE 304/2008
The Regulations EC 303 and EC 304 of 2008 concern operators who carry out maintenance, repairs, and installations of equipment containing FGAS who are obliged to certify their professionalism.
Apave Certification Italy was among the first bodies to be accredited by Accredia and recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as competent to conduct the certification activity and is a leader in Italy in the certification of FGAS companies with over 6000 certificates issued.
FGAS – Reg. CE 307/2008
The Regulation concerns the provision of training courses for personnel responsible for the recovery of certain fluorinated greenhouse gases from the air conditioning systems of motor vehicles falling within the scope of Directive 2006/40/EC. Apave Certification Italia was among the first to be accredited by Accredia for this type of service as well.
UNI CEI 11352:2014 (ESCo)
Apave Certification Italia has developed and accredited (Accredia) a certification process with respect to this standard for organizations that offer energy services in the industrial and civil sectors with guaranteed results in terms of savings achieved.
In fact, this standard establishes that through its services the ESCo (ESCo – Energy Services Companies) guarantees the customer an improvement in energy efficiency, measured through the reduction of energy consumption compared to the initial consumption.
This type of “Energy Performance Contract, or EPC” is spreading throughout both the industrial and civil fields since it allows companies to focus on their own activities while entrusting the management of auxiliary systems (boilers, cogenerators, inverters, compressed air units, etc.) to specialists in the sector.
The UNI CEI 11352 standard is a support tool for national energy policies: elaborated on the basis of the requirements of article 16 of Legislative Decree no. 115/2008, the transposition in Italy of Directive 2006/32/EC concerning the efficiency of end-use energy and energy services, has continued its process with the Ministerial Decree of 7 March 2012 which provides for compliance with the law for the Energy Service companies operating with Public Administrations, then with Legislative Decree 102/2014, transposition in Italy of Directive 2012/27/EU, which states that only certified ESCos will have access to the white certificates mechanism and can present energy efficiency projects in their capacity as voluntary parties.
Technical specifications dt 001: agrotourism hospitality services
The Technical Specifications DT 001, accredited by Accredia, is an Apave Certification Italia proprietary standard developed for the certification of the provision of Agrotourism Hospitality services.
The Specifications apply to companies in possession of an authorization for agrotourism activities and farms that have another type of license to provide hospitality, provided that all operate in accordance with the relevant reference standards.
Technical specifications dt 002: non-gmo products
The Technical Specifications DT 002, is an Apave Certification Italia proprietary standard developed for the certification of “NO OGM” products. The “NO OGM” certification guarantees the consumer, with reasonable reliability, the commitment of the applicant company to avoid contamination by GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), through the preparation of Technical Guidelines, defined by the manufacturer and approved for certification purposes.
It is normally applied to products or derivatives that may originate from or be contaminated by genetically modified matrices such as:
- zootechnical foods;
- foods intended for human consumption.
This certification may be requested by producers of animal feed, distribution chains, food processing industries that use corn and soy or their derivatives, by animal supply chains and corn and soy supply chains.
Technical specification dt 003: aflatoxin contamination risk control in the production of milk and cured hard cheeses.
Technical specification DT 003 is an Apave Certification Italia proprietary standard developed for the certification of Aflatoxin risk control.
Aflatoxins (belonging to the family of mycotoxins) are secondary metabolites produced by parasitic fungi (e.g. Aspergillus) of plants (cereals, and in particular corn, are among the most at risk of contamination) or by molds of foodstuffs that can induce various acute and chronic diseases once they are ingested by animals or humans.
The specification is based on the guidelines of the European community and the specific reference legislation. It is a certifiable standard to be used as a tool in support of the decision making processes and activities of the dairy sector for the delineation of a self-control system aimed at managing the risk of aflatoxins. It is therefore the reference for certifications requiring: “Aflatoxin risk control in the production of milk and cured hard cheeses”.
How is the certification granted?
The certification audit, performed in the field, involves the analysis of the company documents and an assessment of the compliance of the supplied product or service provided with the technical reference document. If the outcome is positive, the Certification is then approved.
Maintenance audits are designed to assess the persistence of the requirements of the product or service with respect to what is indicated in the technical reference document and the effective and efficient treatment of any findings from previous audits.
Every three years, Apave Certification Italia performs an audit with the aim of re-evaluating all the requirements specified in the technical reference document.
